The Hidden Gems of Namibia

TRANS CAPRIVI
Bushman land, Khaudum, Bwabwata National Park & Mamili National Park

10 Night / 11 Day Adventure (Tented)

The Adventure

The Hidden Gems of Namibia is a unique part of the North Eastern part of Namibia, which on first impression looks like inaccessible, but it is the home to great bird life, big herds of Elephant, endangered species such as Roan antelope and the African Wild Dog and many more animals.

This impression, however, is very deceiving, as this part of Namibia is full of surprises, with a rich treasure of discovery for those fascinated by its unique beauty and wild life.

With the Bhejane 4x4 Adventure Team, you will experience the Hidden Gems of Namibia like never before, conducted in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner.

Highlights:

  • A Bush Camp With a Bushman Community
  • Bush walk with the bushman’s
  • Khaudum National Park
  • Bwabwata National Park
  • Mamili National Park
  • Mudumu National Park
  • Boat Cruise on the Kwando River
  • Chobe Flood plains

On this specific tour:

  • You will need a four-wheel drive vehicle with good ground clearance and low range.
  • The tyres on your vehicle cannot be low profile road tyres but must be high profile floating tyres with off road capabilities.
  • You do not need any previous sand and water driving experience.
  • Petrol vehicles will need at least 150 L of fuel and diesel vehicles 120 L (this is inclusive of what is in your on-board fuel tanks)
  • Bhejane provides all the tents and camping equipment, and sets up and takes down the camps.

The Team

Your tour leader is an experienced nature conservationist and adventure guide. He will be in radio contact with you at all times and impart a wealth of biological, cultural, historic and four-wheel drive knowledge.

Three meals a day will be prepared by our experienced bush chef in his mobile kitchen, with fresh salads, potjiekos, braais and many other surprises appearing on the menu. The good old “koffie pot” will be on the fire from six till late.

Though this self-drive adventure can get “exciting” and is sometimes not a “walk in the park”, we will at all times practice safe off-road driving techniques and should you experience any difficulty, the Bhejane crew have the “know how” and recovery equipment to assist with off-road problems.

Some of our overnight stops will be rustic and unusual, but you will never the less at all times be safe, the crew will spare no effort to make you comfortable, provide you with good wholesome food and, most importantly, see that you have a good time.

Adventure Itinerary

Day 1:

The group will meet 125Km north East of Grootfontein at the Grashoek Vet Gate. We will spend our thirst night at a Bushman Community. Where we will be doing a Bush Camp with a long drop as a toilet and Bucket showers for a shower. In the evening, whilst being treated to a good meal, your tour guide will elaborate on what lies ahead over the next few days.

Day 2:

After our thirst breakfast we will go on a Bush Walk with some of the Bushman’s from the community to see and experience the way that they live in the bush.

An essential safety briefing will start after our Bush walk with the Busman’s, this is not intended to intimidate, but rather to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the challenges that lies ahead. Then it’s time to begin our incredible journey. We will be on our way towards Tsumkwe where we will get fuel if they do have before we make our way on a sand track to Sekereti our thirst camp in the Khaudum National Park. We will visit a few attractions on route before we have to be on the lookout for the wild life that waits on us in this very remote wilderness of the North Eastern corner of Namibia.

We will be camping for the night in the Khaudum at camp Sikereti with no fences around the camp where the Bhejane team will have camp ready. The camp site for the next night will have toilets and shower facilities - rustic, but we will ensure your comfort and needs.

Day 3, 4:

Today, our destination will be the Khaudum Camp where we will spend 2 nights. We will be spending two days doing game drives from water hole to water hole on the lookout for big herds of Elephants and other wild life. The Khaudum is also home to a big leopard population and two endangered species such as Roan antelope and the African Wild Dog. In the afternoon, we will be treated to one of Africa's most beautiful sunsets over the beauty of Khaudum National Park.

The camp site for the next two nights will have toilets and shower facilities - rustic, but we will ensure your comfort and needs.

Day 5:

Another early start after a hearty breakfast, we leave Khaudum National Park and its Wild Life behind, heading towards the Okavango river where we will spend the night on the banks of the Okavango river and relived the last few days wild life experience and sandy jeep track roads. On Our arrival at camp the Bhejane team will be ready to treed you with their bush cooking skills.

Day 6, 7:

After Breakfast we will be making our way to the Kwando River where we will spend the next two days on the western side of the Kwando River in the Bwabwata National park. We will be doing our game drives along the Kwando River up to the border of Namibia and Botswana.

Our camp site for the next two nights is on the banks of the Kwando River with toilets and shower facilities. There will be time to relax the next day and explore and discover the area on your own time or just to re live the last few day’s experiences.

Day 8, 9

Sadly, after breakfast, we have to leave the Western banks of the Kwando River behind and cross over the Kwando River to Mamili National Park, to our next destination where we will spend two nights. We will be doing game drives in the morning and afternoon on the lookout for more and more animals as well as the bird life of this magic area.

The camp site for the next two nights will have toilets and shower facilities - rustic, but we will ensure your comfort and needs.

Day 10:

After Breakfast we will be making our way towards the flood plains of the Chobe River opposite the Chobe National Park. This will be the day where we have to leave Namibia’s own, but small Delta and its waterways with all its wild live behind and head for our final destination where we will look back in great memories of our expedition of the last few days. We will be welcomed by the Bhejane crew with a lovely last dinner around the camp fire and great friends.

The camp site will have toilets and shower facilities - rustic, but we will ensure your comfort and needs.
