17 Day Desert and Bush Safari

16 Night / 17 Day Adventure (Lodge)

The Adventure

This Mobile Safari is covering the unique Desert and Bush part of Namibia, with its first impression of wide open space, red sand dunes, magical sky, the Nama and Koi Sun people, a Bushman Community and the wild life.

This impression, however, is very deceiving, as Namibia is full of surprises, with a rich treasure of discovery for those fascinated by its unique beauty and wild life.

With the Unbounded Namibia Safari team, you will experience the Desert and Bush of Namibia and its beauty like never before, conducted in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner.

Highlights:

  • Sossuvlei
  • Swakopmund
  • Brandberg/Twyfelfontein
  • Desert Elephants
  • Cape Cross
  • Epupa Falls
  • Etosha National Park
  • Cheetah Conservation Farm

The Team

Your tour leader is an experienced nature conservationist and adventure guide. He will impart a wealth of biological, cultural and historic knowledge.

Three meals a day will be prepared by our experienced bush chef in his mobile kitchen, with fresh salads, potjiekos, braais and many other surprises appearing on the menu. The good old “koffie pot” will be on the fire from six till late.

Though this self-drive adventure can get “exciting” and is sometimes not a “walk in the park”, we will at all times practice safe off-road driving techniques and should you experience any difficulty, the Unbounded crew have the “know how” and recovery equipment to assist with off-road problems.

Some of our overnight stops will be rustic and unusual, but you will never the less at all times be safe, the crew will spare no effort to make you comfortable, provide you with good wholesome food and, most importantly, see that you have a good time.

Richtersveld Area Information

The Richtersveld is a unique mountain desert wilderness of great beauty, tucked in the far north-western corner of the Northern Cape in South Africa. It is full of changing scenery, with flat sandy plains in the south, to craggy sharp mountains in the northwest and the lushness of the Orange River.

The Orange River which forms the northern border of the Park is virtually the only standing water in this whole vast region and the rocks are stark and bare - in some places resembling a barren lunar landscape.

The Richtersveld is home to grey rhebok, duiker, steenbok, klipspringer, kudu, Hartman's mountain zebra, baboon, velvet monkey, caracal and leopard. Birdlife is prolific, and 650 plant species have been recorded (the Nama community have specific uses for some 150 of these species, ranging from medicinal and cosmetic to nutritional).

Also peculiar to the Richtersveld is the world's largest diversity of succulents, including the unusual halfmens, a tall succulent plant that bears an uncanny resemblance to the human from when seen outlined against the sky.
In this wilderness lies the 162 445 ha Richtersveld National Park.
